Egg and Mussels at Tops Market

My friends told me that I am fortunate to be in Thailand because I have the opportunity to taste some Thai dishes. I agree with them when they said that Thai dishes are delicious. I have one complaint, though. The dishes here in Thailand are too spicy!

I experienced crying and having a runny nose while eating lunch at an eatery during my first week in Thailand. I ordered a very spicy fried fish. Since then, I vowed to be very careful in ordering food at Thai restaurants.

That was a long time ago. I now have eaten a lot of Thai dishes and my mouth is getting accustomed to the spiciness. My usual haunt outside of my room is the Tops Market, which can be found in many malls around Bangkok. The supermarket has a food court, which offers affordable and delicious food.

One lunchtime, I decided to try the egg omelette with mussels and bean sprouts.

Omelette with Mussels

The dish is placed on a sizzling hot plate. You can see the bean sprouts and the omelette. The mussels are underneath the egg. This dish is 40 Baht, which I think is relatively cheap.

I also ordered rice for 10 Baht. The total cost of my lunch is now 50 baht.

The omelette is spicy, as usual. The egg is well-cooked. The problem is the mussels because they tasted half-cooked. I am not fan of half-cooked seafood. I want them fully cook so as to remove the “fishy” smell.

I will not order this dish the next time I go to Tops Supermarket.

How about you? Do you like Thai dishes? If you answer “yes”, can you tell me your favorite Thai dish? I want to try them.

  5. Oooo...mussels? That looks good. In Malaysia, we usually have oysters cooked with egg.

    1. There are also omelette and oyster at Tops Market but it is more expensive than the one with mussels so I didn't buy that.
