If you frequent the city of Manila, then I am sure that you saw a chalk written scribble like this:
.
.
The scribble asks, “Do you see a round ocean? Earth locally flat www.salen-ga Tangent Theorem.”
Chalk written scribbles like this is quite common in Manila and I have seen another one like this on a wall along in front of Quiapo Church. The scribble above was written on the wall of dilapidated Metropolitan Theater in the Lawton Area of Manila.
What is so special with this scribble? The special thing about this is Salen-ga or Salenga. He is a “mysterious” man who scribbles his theories about flat earth and positive electrons all around Manila. Mystery about this guy abounds that many people talks about him, there is even a heated debate about who he is or if his theories are correct. There are also stories that some professors are telling their students to look for Salenga (Salen-Ga) and interview him.
Actually, I had a close encounter with Salenga (Salen-Ga) and during that encounter, I never knew that he is somewhat a celebrity in Manila.
About two years or a year ago, a middle-aged man climbed up our bus. He did not took any seat but started preaching. Well, preachers talking about the Bible is ordinary but when the middle-aged man started lambasting scientists and accused media of covering scientific lies, then I know that I am in for a weird treat. The middle-aged man talked about the earth as a flat object. He reasoned that when you stand in the middle of the road, all you can see is plane surface and you can never see any curvature. He kept on talking for almost an hour until he climbed down our bus.
Salenga (Salen-Ga) is somewhat weird because he chose to air his scientific arguments inside a bus where most of the people don’t care much about science or any theories about flat earth or positive electrons. I am amazed with Salenga (Salen-Ga) because he doesn’t tire preaching his scientific belief and he doesn’t stop scribbling his ideas on walls around Manila.
How Salenga (Salen-Ga) looks like? Here is his photo I found from a Flickr account.
So did you already saw the Salenga (Salen-Ga) scribbles or saw Salenga himself? Tell me about it.

I am FIRST!! Yay!
ReplyDeleteWow! This guy Salenga is weitd indeed!! And mysterious! But I like! Haha!
ReplyDeleteHe argues that the world is flat? How is that possible? We have already gone to space and saw the Earth is round! Oh, he is weird with weirdo ideas!
ReplyDeletehe never said literally flat but "locally" flat. it's two different thing and i think that the guy has a point
DeleteHehe...maybe we need to take him to outer space so he could see that the earth is not flat.
ReplyDeletenever met this guy before....
ReplyDeleteand now i am so intrigue about the story behind his theories
Ah...you are intrigued eh. :-)
ReplyDeletebilog ang mundo..kaya nga may kanta na "anong malay mo, bilog ang mundo..baka bukas magkasama tayo.......etc..manny pacman..
ReplyDeleteTama ka nga Arvs.
ReplyDeleteBilog nga ang mundo.
Well, no chance of me meeting him here... LOL!!!
ReplyDelete@STP:
ReplyDeleteThere no flat earther in your place?
I contact the Flat Earth Society to send you one.
..i never met this guy before. maybe bcoz i dont live in manila. but i got curious with his theories.
ReplyDelete@Jarass:
ReplyDeleteAh, you are curious with his theories , eh?
Better go to Manila and interview him.
wala naman mali sa sinabi niya ah? hindi niya naman sinabi na flat ang mundo.. and sabi niya, Earth is "LOCALLY" flat. meaning, at a very small area, flat yun..
ReplyDeletehaha!

ReplyDeleteWala nga namang mali sa sinabi ni Salenga. Pwede namang maging flat yung isang lugar eh, lalo na kung plain. Pero hindi lahat ng lugar ay locally flat. Paano yung bundok? Locally flat ba sa bundok?
oo nga. pero sinabi rin ba niya na "all areas on Earth are locally flat"? hindi naman diba?
ReplyDeletethe point is, there's nothing weird about what that person says, unlike what the other commentors are saying.

ReplyDeleteYou know. I don't why is there a need for argument patungkol sa bagay na ito. The earth as a whole is "round" or bilog. Ang prrof noon ay yung photos coming from the outer space na kuha ng mga astronauts that shows that the earth is indeed "round."
Second, meron ngang "flat areas" locally at hindi naman kita kinokontra dun. Maliban din sa "flat area" meron ding non-flat areas.
Eeeee...if I meet this kind of people, I'd run far faraway. Don't like strangers dropping by the house trying to pull people into their religion also.
ReplyDeleteHELLO EVERY BODY IM LEE SALENGA THE DISCOVERER,IN THE DIGITAL FLESH. JUST TYPE D ACCESS PHRASE(SALEN-GA TANGENT THEOREM)IN ANY ENGINE OR GO TO OR (FACEBOOK/EARTHLOCALLYFLAT)AND ALL YOUR QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED! SEE YOU THRERE!!
ReplyDeleteHey Anon. Are you for real?
ReplyDeleteYES IM SALEN-GA AND IM INVITING YOU ALL TO PLEASE SEE MY STREET VIDEO INTERVIEW FROM INTERESTED TECHNOLOGY STUDENTS WC SET UP A LONG HEATED DISCUSSION ON WHY THE RICE FIELDS SHOULD NOT HAVE WATER IN THE CENTER IF THE WORLD IS ONLY ROUND!! EVER NOTICED THAT THE BASKETBALL COURT CIRCLE INTERSECTED BY A STRAIGHT LINE HAS AN OVERLAP IN THE FORM OF A SQUARE? A SQUARE HAS FOUR EQUADISTANT FLAT SIDES PROVING THAT A CIRCLE IS COMPOSED OF VERY SHORT FLAT LINES WHICH WE SEE ON THE BEACH AS THE LOCALLY FLAT HORIZON. NO HURT FEELINGS I DISCOVERED IT AHEAD OF ALL PEOPLE IN THIS PLANET.
ReplyDeleteThat's him alright
ReplyDeletequantum physics theory
ReplyDeletegaling mo sir salen-ga!
ReplyDeleteIts just calculus. Dividing a curve into many flat tangents. Frankly, I think other people discovered that way before his time, but credit to him for seeing this all on his own.
ReplyDeleteWrong idea. Tangent line is a line that coincides with a curve at one point. So, if you connect all tangent lines then you are not creating a circle but a figure that has many sides.
DeleteSalenga's hypothesis will only work if what will be connected are the coincident points. In that case, you are connecting points, not lines.
ahab you give it a negative comment did you talk to him already and explained to you his theory? because what you can only do is think of him as weird but not wrong enough by your limited knowledge? you always thinking a circle and etc. his flat line can also be mean a between sides or corners you can create a mass with a polygon or many sides to joing those points right? so stop circle mind of yours
Deleteyou have to understand clearly what he is trying to say. i think he is not foolish enough to make us believe that earth is flat because if it is true then there is no body of mass or earth object to roam for right? in my point of view his theory is the earth is like a body with lots of corners its like a polygon and up with lots of plane and for this he needs to further discuss this.
ReplyDeleteTHE FLAT DISTANCE IN EACH PAIR OF WIRE IN THE ELECTRIC FAN BLADE GUARD IS THE ULTIMATE GEOMETRIC PROOF THAT THE GLOBALLY ROUND EARTH IS QUANTUM RELATIVISTICALLY LOCALLY FLAT.
ReplyDeleteI HAVE PROPOSED TO THE SCIENCE COMMUNITY OF THE QUANTUM GLOBALLY ROUND AND LOCALLY FLAT DUALITY OF WORLDS PARADOX SUBSTITUTE TO THE SCHRODINGER CAT.

isang hndi edukadong pilipino yan, mali ang tinuro sakanya, kawawang nilalang, napaka bobo
ReplyDeletei've encountered him many times in lawton, manila city hall to sm manila, and in luneta.
ReplyDeletehe also said that sun rays are actually cold not warm, coz if your in low lands you feel warm and while going up to the mountain(baguio) you feel cold.
that's what i've heard from him and that's a long time ago =)
That's new to me. I haven't heard him talking about sun rays.
